Listen to just the first page of the novel. What do you know already about the main character and his father? What can we infer about them?

We can see that the main character seems defiant. We know that he and his father are at the police station for a restraining order. The restraining order is for the main character's girlfriend, so something must have happened that made the father want to get the restraining order.
By the way the two are acting towards each other, it seems like the main character and his father don't get along very well. The main character seems to not want to listen to his father, and is probably mad about the restraining order against his girlfriend. The father must not like the main character's girlfriend, obviously, since he's getting a restraining order against her.
Nicklis has anger problems and has never been to court until now.he got a restraining charge possibly on his girlfriend and he gets up set quickly. He seems to have a poor relationship with his father because he give him an attitude.
His father on the other hand seems to be a nice and polite person an might make good money if he's in a nice suit. Nicklaus feels like this last month been longer than it should be and that he might be sorry for what ever he did to get his charges.
We'll right off the bat I can tell that the boy is defiant and has problems with his father. From the kind of sarcastic thoughts he had as his dad was talking it the patrol office rat the front desk of the court house. I can tell the boy is in a lot of crap.but he doesn't really regret what he did because if his emotions.
From the dad I can tell that he thinks his don is just some trouble maker. And that the dad likes to make good first impressions. The father also doesn't really believe in his sons feelings. I think that there Is going to be a long history behind the father and son not getting along ,I think it's a lot deeper than we already know.
He's very defiant to people that he doesn't know, but his anger is what makes him defiant. Some people who see people that are defiant, see it as a problem, it's not a problem it's just how the people are to be balanced in life. Being defiant isn't really a bad thing, but it's how you use the defiant's shows weather or not it's good or bad. Some people who are defiant, being defiant is what defines them in life.
They don't really get along with each other, and that's why they argue a lot. There's not one person in the world that doesn't argue with others. Every body argues with every body it's just how the world was made, and that's just how it's going to stay. People don't have to be defiant, but if that's who they are then let them be, and leave them alone.
His dad wants to put him on a restraining order against his girlfriend, because of issues between them. The son is not very polite. The dad is fake polite, and calm.
The son is in trouble with the law. They are going to court for legal issues. The legal issues involve him and his girlfriend. His dad is disappointed. The son is pissed off, and depressed.
He was not polite to the security women. And they ask for a restraining order. And mention s girlfriend. I think the dad is fake polite because he starts off by chewing out his son- but then goes right to happy and smiling to the security women.
I believe the son and the father do not get along. I believe they have two totally different attitudes. Neither of them agree with each other's opinion. They get mad at each other because of their opinions. I think the dad has the attitude of my son is a high school trouble maker, but I want people to think I raised him better then that. The son on the other hand has the attitude that he don't care and wants to make people mad. Pretty much the f you attitude. I believe that's what is going to get him in trouble.

Well I have to say that Nicholas was feeling very upset when he had to go to court for him slapping his girlfriend. I think that he was showing defiance because he felt like he didn't need to be there. But he probably got his attitude from his father. That's what I think.
