Examine closely the cover art. List a possible number of topics that the book could be about. What do you think the author means by the title?
Your response should be at least two full paragraphs. Remember a paragraph is four to seven sentences.

"The higher power of lucky" has a very interesting title page. To me it looks like a young girl is letting go of something. Perhaps her sorrows or trials or guilt and releasing it to her "higher power". I think it could also be about the real world and how to find your higher power whether Hinduism, catholic, lds, Buddhist etc... Maybe this is a story of a child that matures as she finds her higher power.
From the pages we read, I think that lucky, the main character is interested in people's stories that are hard and sad. I don't think lucky just likes a sad story; I think she likes hearing how the person gets themselves out of the dump. Perhaps lucky goes or has already gone through some hard trials and wants to find the right way to solve them or find hope, help, a higher power. I bet this is a story about just that. Finding your higher power.
I think it could be about a girl finding some kind of strength in her life. Or it could be about karma because that's pretty much luck on a higher plain. But I think it's more about the girl because she is on the cover. Maybe she has to endure something that most wouldn't at her seemingly young age. By the title I think the author meant to catch attention, because it is sort of a play-on-words. I also know that the word "Lucky" is the girl's name. It's obviously a book that is going to be about her. Maybe the title is suggesting that she goes through an intellectual change and, maybe, connects to a higher power of some sort that helps her.

The book "The Higher Power of Lucky", makes me think of religious things like is she praising God, letting go of her ancient ancestors spirit, or trying to catch Casper. Either way it seems like a spiritual thing. I would also say that she is letting go of all her sorrows and regrets.
I've noticed that the expression on the girl's face looks like a feeling of peace. It's as if she's letting herself be free free from constant peer pressure at school or at home. Maybe she's running away from home and the smoke is just a metaphor of the past and she's just letting it go.
