My Favorite Mistake

I grabbed my extra merch money, my ticket, the keys, and went to get Maya. She was surprised when it was me driving, but didn't ask any more questions after I explained. I guess she was equally as determined to attend the concert as I was.

The drive up went smoothly, though we both sweat the whole time with worry. The concert was just as we expected and we had an uneventful drive back in a car full of two extra kids in need of a way home and all the purchased band merch. I was completely happy and carefree... Until I got home.

He was waiting by the gate when I pulled up. My dad. Something you need to know about his wrath is that it's 10x worse than my mom's. I was strictly grounded for the first time in my life for one whole month. No phone, no friends, no tv, no outside privileges. I wasn't even allowed to go when the family went bowling. Everyday it was wake up, go to school, come back, do homework at the kitchen table, go to my room until dinner, come up, eat, shower, brush teeth, bed. I literally did nothing. It was different, since before when I got grounded my parents were lenient and it didn't feel like I was really grounded at all.

Needless to say I never did anything equally as extreme again. That emo concert was not worth the aftermath, and I learned how serious my parents' punishments could be. This is definitely my favorite mistake. It was the beginning of the end of my extreme stage.

I like this one because I can relate with it. My dad grounded me for sneaking out at 3:00AM I would go to my cousinshouse and play games but I left alarm clock on and it rang at 3:15AM and my dad came down to my room. When he found out I was grounded for a while. I learned my lesson in the end.

I think many different situations effect people in different ways. It's cool you were able to learn from that. Imagine how much crazier things could've gotten had you not learned from this. You have good parents and to me the punishments given show they cared which is cool too.

That's crazy that you did that. My grandparents would kill me if I did that. It's good that you learned the first time and didn't keep doing stupid things. That probably saved you from going through a lot of trouble in your life.
